Julie Andrews

A classy lady with a great sense of fun and who has been beloved throughout generations for her timeless roles in "Mary Poppins" and "The Sound of Music". I chose a clip from the more contemporary "Victor/Victoria" because it is so different from her more iconic roles, and she does a marvelous job as a woman impersonating a man impersonating a woman...yes, that's right...

Dana Andrews

Dana Andrews is one of my favorite actors, along with one of the most underrated talents of his time. I love him in everything whether it's a comedy like "Ball of Fire" or a serious drama like "The Best Years of Our Lives". Here he is playing a detective in love with a ghost in one of my favorite movies - the classic noir, "Laura". Skip to 3:00...

Judith Anderson

Dame Judith Anderson playing the incomparably haunting Mrs. Danvers from Alfred Hitchcock's "Rebecca". Based on the book by Daphne du Maurier. Marvelous actress.

The List - We Begin with Leon Ames

So I'm starting a new post regime! I will be posting a link to a video clip of a classic movie actor or actress every few days. Just to increase awareness about the history of film, and share some of my favorite performances. I have compiled a list of actors and actresses in alphabetical order, and I will be alternating male/female. So here we go! Starting with Leon Ames as the soft-hearted father trying to do what's best for his family at the turn of the century in "Meet Me in St. Louis". Here he is singing a duet with his wife and bringing his family together.
